Fall in Geneva, Time to start racking leaves and preparing for winter. Fall color was exceptional this year and the leaves all seemed to come down at one time. Have a number of nice looking black and white negatives to print from this summer. Will be offering a winter photo workshop through Water Street Gallery in Batavia, Illinois. Please look for course announcement.

Water Street Studio Grand Opening
On Sept. 18, 2009 grand opening activities started off with my group shot of all on- hand renting artists as well as the founding board of the Water Street Studios. The board, who are lined up in front in this photo, put in countless hours and great effort to create this unique artist resource. They should be congratulated! The attendance for the night approached 2000 people coming from  local communities, families, friends and patrons of the artist in residence. A good sign for things to come. Now it is up to the artists to “get busy”.

Early morning fog. A unique morning in central Wisconsin. Last week I spent several days making images of the Wisconsin countyside. I shot everything wide open with narrow depth of field and fast shutter speeds. I will be processing the 4X5 film this week. I am anxiuos to see the results.  Working on some new projects as well. Stay tuned.

Farewell to a Friend. Last November an old time friend visited me in Chicago and we were lucky with the great weather while seeing the bean in the loop. My friend,  John Palmer, and myself went to the same undergrad school and were in the same fraternity. John moved out to Aspen in 1972 and I followed in 1973 for a short time. John settled in Carbondale Colorado where he rasied his family and skied. We lost touch over the years until John contacted me to join him at our college alma mater homecoming. We did and caught up on 30 years.  John was diagnosed with terminal throat cancer in 2006. He was given just three months to live. John fought hard on this knowing he was not going to win.  On June 15, 2009 John passed away at his home with family and friends around. He will be missed.
